Jacqueline Fernandez was born in Manama and grew up in a mixed-ethnic, multiracial family. The father of Jacqueline's Elroy Fernandez hails of Sri Lanka (Sinhalese - Catholic)and her mother Kim is a Malaysian. There are two older brothers as well as two younger brothers. Due to unrest in the country, her parents relocated to Bahrain in the late 1980s. In Australia, she studied Media and Communications at University of Sydney after completing her studies in Bahrain. Her passion for different cultures and languages inspired her to enroll in the Berlitz language school where she mastered French and Arabic in addition to learning Spanish. In 2006, she won Miss Sri Lanka. Miss Sri Lanka for Miss Universe 2006 in March, 2006, and was also a contestant for Miss Universe 2006. As a result of winning Miss Sri Lanka in 2006 Padukone started her career in the world of television. She hosted the television show Lanka Business Report which focused on the business of Sri Lanka. Padukone is the child of of badminton champ Prakash Padukone. Padukone grew her life in Bangalore and was born in Copenhagen. She played badminton at the national championships while a teenager but gave her sports career up in order to be a model. Padukone is of Mangalorean roots and is fluent in Konkani as her mother tongue. Padukone is a village located within the Kundapura Taluk of Karnataka's Udupi District. Prakash Padukone's father is an international badminton champion who retired. Her mom is a traveling agent.
